Andrea graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education. She is currently working with York Region District School Board and has taught Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, and 3. She is currently teaching Primary Special Education and has an interest in support students who are struggling at learning to read. Before and after University graduation, Andrea worked and volunteered in various positions such as a homework club tutor, camp counsellor, as well as working at a daycare with toddlers/school age children. She has taken Additional Qualification courses in Special Education and Kindergarten, and has attended a variety of workshops and conferences such as Building Thinking Classrooms (Math Based) and Growing Literate Learners in the Early Years (Reading and Literacy based). Andrea enjoys getting to know her students on a personal basis to help them feel valued and respected. She enjoys being hands on with learning and is creative in the tools and manipulatives she uses to enhance the learning experience. Andrea is a proud mom and feels that this helps in understanding the parent perspective in wanting what is best for one's child. She believes communication with parents is vital to ensuring the well being and success of a child.
