Andrew is an upcoming Ontario Certified Teacher. He spent his childhood growing up in Markham, and through inspiration from his teachers, a passion for teaching sprouted. After completing his Undergraduate Degree at the University of Toronto, Andrew’s passion grew as he became more interested and involved in helping others find success. He channeled his determination and passion for teaching into acquiring his Bachelor of Education at Ontario Tech University. During his time at the university, Andrew helped students comprehend math and science material, and develop their ability to read, write, and problem solve. He has also worked in a variety of settings with different age groups. He has learned how to notice and guide learning from teachers at a daycare program for preschoolers. He has participated in a professional learning community and has implemented strategies to encourage mathematical thinking in students. He has also trained and guided new Starbucks employees to becoming successful and proficient at their job. Andrew enjoys learning about others and the rewarding feeling from seeing others grow. Using the unique characteristics of each student to his advantage, Andrew continues to think of new and engaging learning strategies that cater towards his students. He believes connecting with students and promoting a safe environment develops a growth mindset in students, helping them to achieve academic success. He is confident that adopting this positive attitude will develop student resiliency, allowing more opportunities for meaningful learning. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys spending time with family, board games, and supervising 50-year old children playing Pokemon GO, guiding them to become Pokemon Masters.
