Vivian is an Ontario certified teacher with over six years of teaching experience. She graduated from York University with an Honours Degree in English and Political Science. She went on to attend the University of Toronto’s OISE Teacher’s College where she completed her teacher’s training program specializing in the Intermediate/Senior division. There, she completed her final teaching internship with a focus on ESL and cultural integration, working closely with the head of the ESL department in order to ensure that these goals were being incorporated in all academic subjects. Upon graduating, she began working with ESL students in a private high school where she was fully responsible for preparing and teaching several English and Social Science courses. Vivian is now a tutor for Prep Academy Tutors in North Toronto,York Region, and Vaughan, where she teaches students in the elementary and high school levels. Her experiences have included teaching and tutoring English, literacy, math, ESL, SSAT preparation, and special needs; including students with behavioural issues. Additionally, Vivian is trained on the Direct Instruction Reading Mastery and Connecting Math Concepts Programs and she enjoys guiding students who are needing remedial support. Vivian believes in creating a safe classroom environment to enrich the learning experience for all children. She has worked closely with various students and created daily lesson plans in all subjects with a main focus on math, English, and literacy. Vivian’s pedagogical belief is that all learners are fully capable of achieving personal academic success through positivity and establishing individual learning goals.
